Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHAT MAKES BTP UNIQUE?

A: My photographic style has a vibrant, intimate and timeless approach. I photograph all my weddings and portraits using as much natural lighting as possible, as well as an “unposed” method to keep the focus on YOU. From the traditional photos your grandmother hangs on her refrigerator, to the images that will make your own grandchildren feel like they were there when your legacy began, to the moments in between that otherwise go unnoticed - I am your girl!

I am there to document your excitement as he puts the dream ring on your finger. I am there to help you find the perfect location for your dream engagement photos, plan your big day, fluff your wedding gown, wipe your happy tears and touch up your makeup. I am there to wrangle your family together, be your problem solver and make sure that your wedding day is exactly how you’ve always dreamed. I am there to document your legacy as it grows when you welcome your own children into this world and to watch them grow up with you. My clients are my family and I will take care of you as such - I promise. Behind the scenes, I am obsessive about making sure that your client experience with BTP is always top notch so that you can relax and trust that the documentation of your legacy is in skilled hands.

Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

A: I use all of the latest Canon equipment! My bag includes 2 Canon 5D Mark III camera bodies and a large variety of lenses among other items. All of my pieces have a backup in the rare event that anything should occur to one of my camera bodies or lenses.

Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?

A: Just about 10 years! I photographed my first engagement session in 2009 and began photographing more couples, weddings and families shortly afterward.

Q: ARE YOU INSURED?

A: Yes, of course! My business and all of my equipment is insured and protected. Let me know if you need me to send a liability certificate to your venue!

Q: WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

A: Payments can be made via cash or check to Brooke Tobin Photography. Credit and debit card payments are also accepted through your client booking portal.

Q: I’M CONCERNED ABOUT MY BUDGET - CAN WE CREATE A PAYMENT PLAN?

A: I completely understand! Finances can definitely be a sensitive subject. I am more than happy to help create a payment plan for you to help you stay on track.

Q: WHAT IS THE TURN AROUND TIME? HOW DO YOU DELIVER MY IMAGES AND HOW MANY IMAGES WILL I RECEIVE?

A: The numbers vary depending on which package you choose! For portrait sessions, my turnaround time is typically about 2 to 3 weeks and clients receive 25+ images. For weddings, the turnaround time is typically about 4 to 6 weeks and clients usually receive 500+ images.

Following your session, I personally cull and retouch each of my clients best images in both color and in black and white. You will receive your retouched images in hi resolution and social media sized digital files through a private, password protected online gallery from which you can download, share, favorite and purchase prints and other products from my hand picked professional vendors.

Q: DO I HAVE TO ORDER PRINTS THROUGH YOU?

A: I highly recommend ordering prints through my professional vendors through your online gallery, but it is not required. The difference in quality is HUGE when it comes to ordering through a local printer and a professional lab, so I encourage clients to let me help with their prints and products so that they receive the absolute best!

Q: I DON’T WANT ALL OF THE EXTRA FANCY THINGS IN MY PACKAGE - CAN YOU LOWER YOUR PRICE?

A: Unfortunately, I can’t lower my prices. Most of the extra products included in my packages are all part of the BTP client experience and I gift them to you because I love you guys! I promise that my prices are fair and not just a random number! In reality, there are many things behind the scenes that you don’t see - gear and software applications to maintain, gallery subscriptions, insurance policies, etc. - none of which are free and 100% necessary to do my job!

Q: DO YOU TRAVEL?

A: Absolutely! I love to travel and explore new places and would be more than happy to travel anywhere you are to document your legacy!

Q: I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO CREATE A WEDDING TIMELINE - WILL YOU HELP ME WITH THAT?

A: Of course! In every BTP wedding package, you’ll receive a completely customized wedding day timeline (view a sample timeline here!), as well as access to all of my professional expertise, tips and tricks!

Q: CAN I BRING MY PET TO MY SESSION?

A: Of course! After all, they’re part of the family too! As long as we choose a pet friendly location and your furry friend is well behaved, we’ll have a great time. A few quick tips for bringing your pet to your session: 1) Bring treats 2) Bring a family member or friend to help 3) Prep your pup! Take them for a walk before your session and arrive to your location early and let them explore and get comfortable.

Q: WHAT ARE LOCATION PERMITS?

A: Sometimes, certain locations require a photography reservation and permit in order for us to photograph your session or wedding there. These permit fees vary in price from location to location and are the responsibility of the client. As we plan your session, I will inform you of these location permits and fees and will assist you in making these reservations.

Q: CAN WE PROVIDE YOU WITH A SHOT LIST OR INSPIRATION FROM OUR PINTEREST BOARD?

A: Other than any specific family groupings that you can request in your pre-wedding questionnaire, I’d rather not. Pinterest is wonderful (believe me, I’m on it far too often!), but as an experienced wedding and portrait photographer who is constantly reimagining and creating new content, I want you to trust me, my expensive education and my creative ability to document your legacy to be as unique as you are; not just another replica of someone else’s wedding photo. Trust me, I know that can be difficult! I’ve been a bride before, too, and totally understand swooning over everyone else’s images! Besides, I already have a “standard” list of images that I document without prompting - both classic images that grandma will want to hang on her refrigerator and images that document moments otherwise missed.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? SHOULD I GET PROFESSIONAL HAIR AND MAKEUP DONE?

A: I highly recommend neutral colors and simple patterns or textures! They are classic and romantic, they keep the focus on you and your loved ones and they flatter anyone, at any location! Ladies - you can never go wrong with a great maxi dress and heels! If professional hair and makeup makes you feel as amazing as you look - then go for it! Gentlemen - a classic khaki or denim pant and a patterned button down always has my approval! If you’d like more assistance choosing your outfits, please do not hesitate to ask - I am more than happy to assist you, as well as send you my client styling guide! In the mean time, please feel free to view my styling tips or styling board on Pinterest here!

Q: HOW DO WE RESERVE OUR WEDDING DATE WITH YOU?

A: Send me an email at brooke.tobin.photography@gmail.com or send a message through the contact page here, and I can give you more information on this. A non-refundable $500 deposit and signed contract is required in order to get your wedding day officially reserved, exclusively for you! Two weeks prior to your wedding, the remainder of the balance is due.
